Stan arrived at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in September 2006 after a tractor-trailer bound for a slaughterhouse overturned on Interstate 44 in Franklin County, Missouri. The former racehorse (signified by his lip tattoo) suffered scrapes on his body, face and legs. In addition to his injuries, Stan was thin and had bowed tendons on his front legs. Luckily for him, the Grady family had been keeping tabs on his progress from their farm outside of Springfield, Missouri. In June, 2008 they decided the time had come to give the 21-year-old thoroughbred his second chance at greener pastures. Stan Clyde Frankie Ike Sydney Oliver
