The Pot Bellied Pig Playhouse
The staff at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch is rescuing an increasingly large number of potbellied pigs. In fact, on July 12, 40 pot bellied pigs were rescued from Ste. Genevieve County. Additionally, other small animals including goats and small donkeys have been rescued and need a structure in which to reside. The estimated cost of this building is $150,000.00.

Safe Stay Stables
There are many animals at Longmeadow that are very capable of thriving with little supervision. This building will be a renovation of an existing, antiquated structure and will serve as a resting place for those animals that spend most of their time in the pasture. It will include stables and a feed and tack room so staff will have what is needed to provide the animals with the care they deserve. The estimated cost of renovation is $110,000.00.

Menagerie Barn
As the name of this building suggests, the Menagerie Barn is designed to house a variety of animals and, in particular, those that are permanent residents of the Ranch because they have become mascots used for educational purposes. Longmeadow staff members transport these mascots to special educational events that are regularly planned for both children and adults. The cost of renovation of this building is estimated to be $95,000.00.

Healing Bay Barn
This building is designed for those animals that must be quarantined or receive special care. All animals will be placed in this building immediately after they are rescued until a veterinarian checks them. It is necessary for some of the animals to receive long-term care for serious injuries or illnesses. Others need to be quarantined to prevent the other animals from becoming ill as a result of having been exposed to a contagious disease. Construction of this building is estimated to be $180,000.00.

Staff Office
The Ranch Manager and Education Director share an office, which is fully equipped with a computer and an updated phone system in the Longmeadow Learning Center. Previously, all personnel had been sharing a combination office/break room. Work will be accomplished much more efficiently in an appropriate work space with upgraded equipment. Cost of the office, the furniture and equipment is $25,000.00.

Feed Rooms
Five different feed rooms will be located in the various barns. Special food is needed for many of the animals since some are elderly, some are still recovering from abuse and neglect and some have chronic conditions with specific nutritional needs. The cost of each of these rooms is $10,000.00.

Horse Stalls
Each barn housing horses will include state of the art horse stalls. They will have continuous watering systems and feed troughs that open out so staff does not have to enter each stall in order to feed the animals. Each of these stalls cost $7,500.00.
