Bailey
A white Pekin duck.
Bailey's Story
Bailey came to Longmeadow in the spring of 2010. She was purchased as a duckling from a feed store for an Easter present. But, as so often happens, she grew too big and her owners realized they did not have the space and ability to properly care for her.
Bailey's Health
Bailey eats a pelleted feed designed for domestic fowl and all the insects she can find when she forages on the ranch grounds. She receives yearly regular deworming. At night Bailey and the other fowl living at the ranch sleep in a special house with roosts and nests designed just for them.
Bailey's Personality
When Bailey first arrived at Longmeadow she was very afraid of people and her new surroundings. She sat on the ranch director’s lap for the first few weeks "helping" do paperwork. Eventually, Bailey made lots of friends with the other ranch animals particularly the other ducks, geese and chickens. Now, she loves to "talk" to Longmeadow staff and visitors. When the weather is warm she swims in her own kiddie pool.
